Claymations
I made this during Semester one and I never had time to upload it until now. The theme we got was "To sense my space" so from that I thought about picking the space in and around my house. I then made a claymation of a person taking pictures in a kitchen and another video of the person taking pictures in the garden. I used real images in between which I actually photographed in my own house and garden.

Some Adobe Softwares
A while ago the tutor was roughly explaining us some programmes and what they are used for, which we will learn how to use in the future. We learned the basics for some of them.
Photoshop: This is an image Manipulator. You can bring in images onto it or draw them.
Adobe Illustrator: Vector Graphics-if you zoom in you wont lose the focus/quality of images.
Adobe Premiere pro: I use that to put video and sound together.
Adobe Audition: Audio production. voice overs, sound effects, music etc but I think it's mostly used for audio levels.
Adobe After Effects: For compositing and putting everything together.
Adobe Flash: Web animation.
So far I have only used photoshop, premiere pro and Flash I don't know how to use the other programmes yet. Eventually we will be taught how to make 3D animations. I will be looking forward to that day.

Dragon Square
The title of our Brief was: The Story of a Square
A square, a basic shape, rectangle with two adjacent equal sides. This shape is the starting point and endpoint of our animation. What we create in between is completely up to us. The animation has to be ten seconds long.
The square that we used had to be a certain size. At the end when all our animations are finished the tutors plan to connect all our short animations together so that the square keeps changing.
Here is my ten second animation. (it might not work on some laptops so I might have to upload it again):
I drew the pictures, scanned them, then coloured them in on photoshop. The movement was done on flash and the sound was then added in premiere pro.

Traditional Animation : Key points
Traditional Animation has varies things which are important when creating an animation, which our tutor explained to us yesterday.
1. Squash and Stretch:
It is important for facial expressions.
2. Timing and motion:
This key point is very important. For example that tiny characters move faster than larger ones.
3. Anticipation:
It is the preparation before an action:
4. Staging:
Which is a clear presentation of an idea. Examples for this are static movements in busy scenes and the use of silhouettes.
5. Follow through and Overlapping Action:
Follow through termination is part of an action and an overlapping action starts a second action before the first one is finished.
6. Straight Ahead Action and Pose-to-Pose Action:
Straight ahead- Animator starts from first drawing in the scene and draws all subsequent frames until the end of the scene.
Pose to pose- Animator plans actions, draws sequence of poses in between frames.
7. Slow In and Out:
Spacing of in between frames to achieve subtle of timing and movement. The 3D keyframe composition systems uses spline interpretation to control the path of an object.
8. Arcs:
This is the visual path of an action for a natural movement. It makes an animation much smoother and less stiff than a straight line.
9. Exaggeration:
Accentuating the essence of an idea via the design and action. It needs to be used carefully.
10. Secondary Action:
Results directly from other action. It is used to increase the complexity and interest of a scene. For an example, a body movement is the primary action and the facial expression is the secondary action.
11.Appeal:
Refers to what an audience would like to see. The character cannot be too simple (boring) or too complex. Avoid mirror symmentry, assymmentry is more interesting.

Conor Horgan: Photographer and Director
Yesterday we went to a talk at the main LIT building with the animation, photography and graphics group. There, Conor Horgan, was talking about his life and job. He told us that at the age of 16 he was a punk that ran away from home and moved to London where his love for photography began when someone sold him a camera in a Cafe which he worked in.
He had a good start with photography, even getting his images into the front pages of the newspapers. Horgan worked many years making and working on commercials but now he wants to move on from that. He has made short movies and documentaries. His work doesn't involve much dialogue as he prefers expressing things through actions rather than words.
I really loved his short movie about dancing under water which is called "Deep End Dance" The camera crew was under water most of the time when filming this. Here is a link to the video. I recommend watching it it's very interesting and unique:

My First Animation
My first Animation. Sorry about spelling music the german way. Also, it's not properly finished because it got a glitch so I never got the chance to make the arms move in the fighting scene. I drew out pictures which I then scanned and coloured in on Photoshop. I then imported the images into Flash and made them move. The sound effects and music were added in Premier pro. I had a lot of fun making this animation and I can't wait to make more.
here are some of the the images which I drew and then scanned and coloured in n photoshop:
