For this brief we had to experiment with different visual effects and create a motion design or animation piece. This brief has to link in with our FYP so i decided to take the aspect f elements, mostly water and fire, and experiment with them. I have always wanted to try out the green screen so I incorporated it into my FX Brief. Below is a video which roughly shows what I used to make the FX Brief. It contains raw footage of which some was further developed and other video clips which were not used in the final piece.
The making of the FX Brief
Textures:
I took photographs of things in my house for the textures in the animation.
Fire Recordings:
For the fire recordings I recorded my fireplace at home.
Lough Derg:
I went to Lough Derg to film the water and the grass blowing in the wind.
Fish Recordings:
I went to the local pet shop to record the fish in the tanks.
Hair Dye:
I recorded how the hair dye moved when I poured it into the bathtub full of water.
Green Screen:
My classmate Jennifer helped me to green screen myself for the animation.
For this project I was in Team Donkey Derby with Eamonn O'Connor and Ross Murphy-Cooke. We have created a visual piece for the narrative Dusty the Donkey by Pauline Ryan.
Our concept for Dusty the Donkey is to create an animated TV Series for Children.
Dusty the Donkey entertains and educates children. The character and narrative guide the audience through situations that enable and help them to learn.
